DONATING

Donating Building Materials to the Habitat Restore

Habitat Restore is a building materials reuse and surplus center that accepts new and used building related materials from individuals, builders, remodelers, suppliers, and property managers. These materials could be used directly in the construction of Habitat homes, but most are offered for sale to the public at a reduced price.

Habitat Restore Benefits the community in many ways.

• Proceeds from Restore sales support Habitat for Humanity in their mission of building affordable housing for low-income families, and rehabilitating residential neighborhoods.

• Homeowners, remodelers, and property managers have access to materials at low prices, allowing them to maintain and improve properties. This helps to increase property values and strengthen neighborhoods.

• Habitat Restore diverts large amounts of reusable materials from landfills. That saves valuable resources as well as saving the cost of disposal fees for the donor. In addition, your donation may be tax deductible!

• Habitat Restore's daily operations provide meaningful volunteer and work experiences for individuals and groups.

How can I donate materials to the Habitat Restore?

Step 1
If you have reusable or surplus new materials, clean and in good condition, in Rochester call us at (507) 696-1215, in Winona call us at (507) 474-6075. You will be asked for a description of the materials as well as contact information. We prefer that donors include delivery of the items to the store or drop site as part of their donation. Please indicate if you are able to deliver your donation when you call.

Step 2
Your call will be returned to determine if we are able to use your donation and to schedule a drop off time or collection time, if necessary.

Step 3
If the Restore is picking up donated items, we will call the day before to confirm the pickup item, time, and location. For the safest, most efficient pick-ups, please follow these guidelines:

• Have all the materials stacked and easily accessible.
• No pick-up of items from basements or second floors over 30 Ibs.
• If you can’t be present, please clearly mark all item “Restoreâ€?
• ABSOLUTELY no hazardous materials or trash.

* Habitat Restore reserves the right to accept or reject any items at the time of donation!
