ABOUT THE HABITAT RESTORE

Winona Habitat ReStore opened its doors in June of 2006 as the first ReStore in Minnesota. It is located on Winona’s east side near the Mississippi River, at the corner of Laird and Second Street.

Habitat ReStore works in tandem with Habitat for Humanity – Winona County to help build simple, decent, affordable homes for partner families. In January of 2006 HFH-WC worked with Rochester Area Habitat for Humanity to form an agreement creating a flow of donated materials from the Rochester area to the Winona ReStore helping to increase sales and quality of materials.

Our goals...
•Generate cash flow to support Habitat’s home building program
•Keep useable building materials out of the landfill
•Provide local residents with a source of low cost building materials
•Create an opportunity for volunteer and community involvement.

How does it work?
Habitat ReStore is a building materials reuse and surplus center that accepts used and new surplus building materials from individuals and business. These materials are first offered for use in Habitat home building, but most are offered for sale to the general public at 50% - 75% off the retail cost.
